A.P. Nelyubin Institute of Pharmacy of Sechenov University has a history of more than 85 years. It comprises 9 departments, a Botanical Garden as well as the scientific and educational research center «Pharma Premium». About 200 scientific and pedagogical professionals work at the departments, including academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, foreign scientists, professors, PhD holders.

The scientific interests of A.P. Arzamastsev Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry (one of the head subdivisions of Sechenov University’s Institute of Pharmacy) encompass synthesizing new potential pharmaceutical drugs, developing modern approaches to quality control of pharmaceutical drugs and implementing modern physicochemical methods of analysis; Department of Natural Science in Pharmacy is engaged in development of cutting-edge methods of medicinal plants and herbal medicines  standardization, pharmacognostic study of medicinal plant raw materials; Department of Pharmaceutical Technology  is committed to innovation in pharmaceutical manufacturing of dosage forms, etc. Moreover, much prominence is given to pharmaceutical education.
