The scope of pharmaceutical science and its affiliate sciences that have been one of the basic foundations of medical sciences during the history of mankind health and therapy and every day its importance and use are increasing, it has received a lot of attention especially over the past year and the severe and serious conditions of the Corona pandemic on human society have brought it to an enormous examination and challenge. Corona related restrictions may have had a limiting effect on many features of human life, nonetheless, they have created hundredfold mobility in the pharmaceutical sciences. Preparation of various drug treatment programs from different available drugs, the manufacture and formulation of diverse possible compounds, antiviral drugs and in particular the application of immunological and biological methods for prevention of infection and spread of coronavirus owes much to the efforts of pharmaceutical researchers around the world who shared their knowledge and experience and achieved a historic result in a short period of time. Over the last year, the world of science has witnessed the unprecedented coordination and cooperation of basic and clinical scholars of medical sciences with government officials and executives of various public and private levels in the country and internationally in a glorious fight to preserve human health and civilization. The implementation of various stages in the discovery of numerous vaccines against Covid-19 in Iran and some other countries in less than one-tenth of the usual time has shown the peak of applied scientific and lifesaving efflorescence in the most difficult working conditions of the late century. It is worthy and necessary to especially tribute the Iranian pharmaceutical scientists who added another honorary page to the record of health services, although facing unfair sanctions.

International congresses and seminars are one of the fundamental approaches in sharing scientific findings and experiences. In the meantime, the annual conference on "Pharmacy Updates" which is held by Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Center (PSRC) of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, is one of the greatest and most glorious international congresses and has been undoubtedly the most extensive congress in the region during the recent years. This year, Corona related restrictions have led to its online implementation, but with the same span, deep dimensions and scientific and experimental magnificence. In this year's international conference organized by the Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, in addition to accepting and reviewing research articles to present the results of researches in various pharmaceutical sciences in multiple conference halls, there are more than 40 domestic and 30 international keynote presenters by distinguished scientists from eastern and western countries such as England, USA, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Australia and Malaysia are planned. Special panels have been designed in the domestic and international sections of the International Conference of Pharmacy Students Network (IPharmS), which is also one of the achievements of the Student Committee of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Center and now has official branches in 12 Schools of Pharmacy in Iran and 4 other Schools of Pharmacy in other countries that will present the latest achievements of each of these centres over the past year in two-hour meetings. In addition to the official publication of all articles presented at the conference in the influential English language magazine of this centre under the title of "International Pharmacy Acta", the international written and audio-visual publication of the edited lectures of several key panels, such as the panel on "Results of four decades of research and treatment of war gas casualties" that is designed in collaboration with the most leading scientists from different countries, will be of the timeless scientific results of this year's congress, which will leave credible documents for the ages.

I, as the President of the Host University and the President of this year's Congress, meanwhile thanking the invited domestic and international distinguished lecturers and prominent key scientists, would like to express my gratitude to all those involved in holding this conference, including the scientific and executive commissions, esteemed speakers and participants, And I desire God eminent for the proper use of the prepared programs for all the participants, and the increasing success of the educated society and the ministrants of the pharmaceutical sciences of Iran and other countries.
